IHC grants Imran Khan another Interim bail till 13 October in female judge 'threatening case'

In today's hearing:

PTI chairman Imran Khan appeared before an Islamabad sessions court a day before his interim bail expires, which had been granted by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week. Imran Khan has been granted interim bail until 13 October by IHC.

The security around the Sessions Court premises was increased a few hours before the ex-premier was expected to appear in court.

IHC granted the PTI's Chairman Imran Khan bail till October 13 in exchange for Rs 50,000 in surety bonds.

Previously:

Senior Civil Juge Rana Mujahid Rahim issued arrest warrants for the former prime minister on September 30. 









News of the arrest warrants of Imran Khan quickly spread, and thousands of Imran's fans rushed to his residence to make sure that their leader remained safe. Imran's supporters reminded the coalition-led government that Imran Khan was their red line.

The interior minister clarified that the issuance of warrants was just to follow the legal procedure and an arrest was out of the question, additionally, he added that these warrants are bailable.

IHC granted interim bail to the Khan till October 7, which was set to expire tomorrow.

The Case:

Islamabad High Court has issued Ex-PM Imran Khan interim pre-arrest bail in a case involving threats aimed at Zeba Chaudary a female judge at one of the PTI's anti-government rallies at F-9 park in Islamabad on August 20th in support of a PTI's leader that was brutally tortured. 

On these offenses, the FIR against Imran was launched at Margalla Police station hours after the speech by Imran Khan.

According to the FIR filed by the Margalla police, the PTI president threatened the additional session judge Zeba Chaudary of Islamabad to frighten top officials of the police and judiciary, causing them to fail to do their duty and desist from taking action against the PTI out of fear of Imran.

Initially, Imran was booked under terrorism. however soon after they were dropped on the orders of the IHC judge and pressure from the international community.

In the last hearing, IHC dropped 'contempt of court' charges from Imran's case and ordered him to present himself before the relevant court, which he did today.

Now, only Pakistan Penal Code 504, 506, 189, and 188 remain.

PPC 189: "The threat of injury to the public servant"
PPC 504: "Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace"
PPC 506: "Punishment for criminal intimidation"
